Free time audit worksheet: plan vs actual, hour by hour
A time audit is a personal record of your own day. You set the hours you planned next to the hours you actually lived. It is not employee monitoring, and it is not a team timesheet.
This worksheet is free, printable, and usable without signing up. It does not import into Solrit. You fill it in by hand, then re-enter the day in Solrit if you want the app to keep the record.
Both buttons open the browser print dialog. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog to keep a PDF copy.
Or download the worksheet as a CSV file for personal records. The file does not import into Solrit.
How to use this sheet
- Plan a small honest day in the morning.
- Log each hour as it closes, in one line.
- Total the day: Timed plan, Recorded, Unlogged, and Recorded vs plan percent.
- Read the gap: which hours matched, which ran over, which were never logged.
- Change one hour tomorrow.
Worked example
This example uses the same day as the time audit guide. It is an illustrative day, not real user data.
| Task | Timed plan | Recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Writing | 2 hours | 1 hour 30 minutes, Under plan |
| Meetings | 1 hour | 1 hour 30 minutes, Over plan |
| Admin | 2 hours | 1 hour 15 minutes, Under plan |
Totals: Timed plan 5 hours, Recorded 4 hours 15 minutes, Unlogged 45 minutes, Recorded vs plan 85 percent. Meetings ran long, Admin shrank, and 45 minutes were never logged.
Planned totals are unavailable in Solrit if no frozen baseline exists for the day.
Worksheet
| Hour | Planned | Actual | Mood | Gap note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example | Write report, 60 minutes | Inbox and messages, 60 minutes | Steady | Drifted: task changed, time did not |
| Totals | Timed plan | Recorded | Unlogged | Recorded vs plan percent |
Add planned and actual minutes, then subtract.
Planned means what the hour was for. Actual means what the hour actually became, in one line. Mood is optional, one word. Gap note is one of matched, over, under, unlogged, or drifted.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to sign up to use this?
No. The worksheet is on this page, free, with no signup and no email gate.
Does this import into Solrit?
No. There is no importer. You re-enter the day by hand if you want it in the app.
Can I use it every day?
Yes. Print one sheet per day, or use the 7 day summary grid for the week totals.
What if I miss an hour?
Leave it unlogged and note it. Unlogged time is data, not a failure to hide.
Switching from another planner
Solrit has no importer. If you switch from another planner, you rebuild the plan by hand in Solrit. The worksheet does not move your old data for you.
Who is this worksheet for?
Best for a person who wants to try a time audit today, on paper, before signing up for anything. Best for a person who wants a printable sheet for a week of audits.
Not for a person who wants automatic import from another app. Not for a manager who wants a team timesheet. Both are out, and this page says so.
Honest limits
- Paper does not total itself. You add the totals, or you use the app day review after re-entering the day.
- The worksheet cannot import into Solrit. There is no importer.
- The worksheet is a personal record. It is not a payroll record and not an employee tracking sheet.
